Sponsor APA Pennsylvania Southeast for 2019

The work and programs by the Southeast Section of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association (APAPASE) aren’t possible without the support of our sponsors. We are releasing sponsorships now for organizations who prefer to take advantage of end of year giving, but are always happy to work with new sponsors.

The sponsorship levels are laid out in our 2019 Sponsorship Package. If you would like to discuss a custom sponsorship, simply contact sponsorship@apapase.org to start the discussion.

Future City Updates

APAPASE participated in the successful Future City Engineering Fair at SAP America in Newtown Square, PA on Saturday, October 13. Our booth had some terrific information about climate change and sea-level rise, as this year’s competition theme is Powering our Future, how to build a resilient power grid. A hands-on land use activity was used to encourage students to incorporate city planning into their projects for the 2019 Future City Regional Competition. Using sea-level rise information displayed on the NOAA web map, students were asked to organize land uses (represented by Lego blocks) on a map of the Philadelphia Pennsport neighborhood. The children loved the learning activity, and some wowed our volunteers with their creative and thoughtful land use planning. Students also picked up articles from the APA Planning magazine August/September special issue on climate to aid them in their research. A special thank you to our volunteers!

Sponsor the 2018 Annual Event

The APA PA Southeast Section offers opportunities throughout the year for planners, citizen planners, students, and allied professionals to attend great events and activities that are educational and foster social interaction.  The Section is able to do this for members with the help of sponsorships.  Sponsorships are annual or event specific (see our 2018 sponsorship package). We offer thanks to our 2018 Annual Sponsors!

The best event to sponsor is our Annual Meeting because the venue and program are special, and it is well attended (sometimes over 100 professionals and colleagues).  The 2018 Annual Meeting is in early September and will be at the 20th Century Club in Lansdowne.  Consider being an Event Sponsor this year at a discounted rate.

Help share the excitement happening in Lansdowne at the APA PA SE Annual Event in September 2018!

2018 Great Places in Pennsylvania Nominations Open

The PA Chapter of the American Planning Association recently kicked-off its 2018 Great Places in Pennsylvania Program.  Great Places are unique, memorable places where people want to be – not only to visit, but to live, work and/or play every day.  They serve as a model that other communities want to emulate – places of exemplary character, quality planning, identity, cultural interest and community involvement with a sustainable vision for the future.

Nominations are now open and we’re seeking the nomination of Great Public Spaces and Great Greenways/Trails. If you know a special public space or greenway/trail that truly stands out in what it offers residents and visitors, NOMINATE IT!!!!  A Great Place in your community demonstrates the importance of planning, provides an opportunity for promotion and tourism, and illustrates how local policies and projects strengthen our communities.

You can view the Program Guidelines, Category Criteria and Nomination Form on the APA PA website. The Great Places in PA 2018 Program Announcement Flyer also contains links to the Program materials and the Nomination Form. The deadline for Nominations is April 17, 2018.
