Oct. 20 : Penn State Extension: So You Want Agriculture in Your Community… (1.25 CM Pending)

October 20 @ 12:00 pm1:15 pm

So You Want Agriculture in Your Community: Have You Heard of PA Farm Link?

1.25 CM credits (pending approval)

In some communities, agriculture is part of the land use of the community. As the age of our farmers gets older, there could be the opportunity for “creating farming opportunities” for the next generation. Pennsylvania Farm Link, a 501c3 non-profit is dedicated to connecting farmers and landowners in Pennsylvania, and how their organization and land/farmer online database can be a “tool” to help any potential new farmers in your given municipalities.

This webinar will explore the agricultural side of land use decision making in your community by introducing planners to PA Farm Link. In addition, you will get an inside look at the PA Farm Link land linking database. This database provides the opportunity  for landowners and/or people looking to farm-land (through buying or renting) to find multiple listings from across the state. The database can be a very useful tool for municipal planners to learn about in case they have people who own land in their areas (that are looking to sell or lease), or for people who are looking for land in their areas, to be better connected.

Aug. 4 – Webinar Wednesday: So You Want to Build a Trail

So You Want to Build a Trail: Tips for Planning, Design, Funding and Construction

Register Here

Multi-use trails have seen a surge in popularity as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and are increasingly being used for transportation, in addition to their traditional role as a recreational amenity. Due to this increased demand, communities may be motivated to initiate local trail projects that promote outdoor recreation opportunities and connections to regional trail networks.

The objective of this session is for planners to understand how they can help local governments and nonprofit organizations plan for and implement trail projects. Specifically, this session will touch on how to navigate the process, including how to conduct a feasibility study to hone in on realistic alignments, how to identify appropriate funding opportunities, and how to work with municipal staff and volunteers. The presentation will also highlight real-life examples of considerations that arise during the trail design, permitting, and construction stages.

CM credit is pending approval.

Speakers: Donna Fabry and Chloe Mohr

Deadline to register is August 3, 2021
