Senior Transportation Planner

The Planning Commission seeks a senior-level transportation planner within the Transportation

Division. The position (Planner IV) provides professional consulting services to local municipalities, development of transportation plans and policies, and County representation in regional transportation forums. This position is responsible for the successful management of planning projects, supervision of project team members, and to assist in the development of future work program activities.

 

The successful candidate must demonstrate a high competency level in all aspects of transportation planning, programming, and project implementation, and will represent the County in managing projects with our transportation partners. Demonstrated knowledge shall include an understanding of the regional Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and other available funding sources, plus a working knowledge of transportation partners, including DVRPC, PennDOT, SEPTA, and TMAs. The candidate must possess excellent verbal, writing, and computer skills, including Microsoft office and ESRI ArcGIS products. Candidates should demonstrate experience in delivering presentations, facilitating meetings, and preparing technical reports.

 

Minimum Requirements: a Master’s Degree in Planning, Geography, or a related field with five years of applied transportation planning experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  AICP certification preferred but not required.
