Old City District: Vision Survey and Public Open House

The Old City District, in its role as a special services district and Registered Community Organization, is embarking on the development of a neighborhood master plan to set a framework for private development and a high-quality public realm.

Together with more objective research on market trends, transportation access, and the physical form of buildings and sidewalks, we wanted to get direct input from Old City residents, businesses, workers, and visitors about what makes the neighborhood great and not so great, plus what would make it a little better, or even a little worse. This brief survey should only take about five minutes to complete. Please encourage your friends, family, and coworkers to participate.

Schreiber-Glover-Lincoln-Funeral-copy-e1354683725530

In 1865, Philadelphia was a city on the edge of grief, growth, and genius. That year saw the joy of Northern victory dashed by the grief of Lincoln’s assassination, unprecedented growth for the city, and a growing realization that abolishing slavery did not mean an end to the city’s race problems.
