Entry-Level Planner/Communications Coordinator
McCormick Taylor, a progressive transportation engineering and environmental planning consulting firm, has an immediate opening for an Entry-Level Planner / Communications Coordinator in our Philadelphia, PA office. The ideal candidate will participate in a broad range of multimodal transportation and land use planning activities and studies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, as well as provide assistance with GIS and public involvement.
Responsibilities:
This position requires the successful candidate to help conduct and/or contribute to land use and transportation planning studies and public involvement activities as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The individual should be familiar with transportation planning requirements, be able to conduct data collection and performance analysis, and support public involvement and outreach efforts for a variety of projects. The individual should also be familiar with GIS applications for land use and transportation planning. Familiarity with the NEPA project development process is a plus. The candidate must be capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
Job duties include, but not limited to the following:
- Preparation of multimodal transportation and land use planning studies, comprehensive plans, and corridor studies
- Data collection and analysis of data, including, but not limited to, transportation data, socio-economic data, land use data, zoning information, and natural features
- Involvement in community and stakeholder engagement activities, including public meetings
- Preparation of correspondence, technical memos and reports
- Communication and interaction with clients and subconsultants
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation planning, community planning, or related field
- 0 to 5 years of experience
- Basic understanding of multimodal transportation and community planning practices
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities
- GIS Capabilities
- AICP-certification desired
