Bike Montco Intern
The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) is accepting applications for our internship program for the Fall Semester, specifically to support staff in developing Montgomery County’s new bicycle mobility plan, Bike Montco. The plan will add to the county’s efforts to advance bike and pedestrian mobility and will include design improvements and key policies for bicycle safety. We’re looking for any graduate or advanced undergraduate students (junior or senior) in planning, community development or allied , especially those with an academic or professional interest in Non-motorized Transportation, who are available at least two (2) days a week. This is an unpaid internship, but students will gain in-depth knowledge and experience working on an active planning and policy document in a professional planning agency.
Required Tasks Include:
- Participation in field views/site visits
- Assistance with mapping and geographic analysis
- Assistance with research and summaries of programs and policies related to bike mobility
- Assistance with outreach to stakeholders
- Data entry of survey responses and other information
Preferred Skills Include:
- Good writing skills required
- Good research abilities
- Ability to use Geographic Information Systems, specifically ArcGIS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
