Transportation Planner
Transportation Planner – Starting salary $34,272
Qualifications Master’s degree in planning or related field; bachelor’s degree in planning or related field plus two (2) years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent written, oral, and graphic communication skills required. Duties Under the supervision of a Manager, serves as project planner on assigned projects. Performs research; collects and analyzes data; prepares recommendations and reports in draft and final form; presents findings at public meetings and work sessions. Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss work assignments. Provides work guidance to Associate Planners, Technicians, and Interns as required. Performs related duties as assigned and/or directed. |

The Lancaster County Planning Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planner, Sr. for the Transportation Planning Division. The Senior Transportation Planner develops and/or coordinates the update of transportation plans, programs, and projects that implement or support implementation of the County Comprehensive Plan (including the Transportation and Growth Management Elements). The Senior Transportation Planner demonstrates a superior knowledge of the practice of transportation planning as well as community and regional planning. The planner act as a project manager in the development and update of various transportation plans, programs, and projects. The planner also develops new and innovative ideas and approaches that can be applied to transportation planning and implementation. The Senior Transportation Planner’s superior knowledge of the practice of planning is applied to ongoing programs and projects that implement Lancaster County’s planning program. | |

The Lancaster County Planning Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planner, Sr. for the Community Planning Division. A senior community planner works directly with municipal planning partners under the general guidance and supervision of the Director for Community Planning. The Senior Community Planner is expected to work independently in assessing municipal planning needs and developing planning tools that are both tailored to a specific community, and that can serve as a model for other municipalities. Senior community planners serve as liaison to municipal governments and support local implementation of Envision Lancaster, the Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan. They are assigned to specific municipalities and serve as the representative of the planning commission to those entities. A community planner is expected to work effectively with municipal officials on a range of community planning issues. The senior community planner is also assigned to review subdivision plans, and municipal zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan amendments. | |
