The Delaware County Planning Department is sponsoring a Course in Zoning presented by the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute this May 9, 16, and 23, at the Delaware County Community College.
This course addresses the complex and contentious topic of zoning. Participants learn the fundamentals of drafting zoning ordinances, the relationship between zoning and comprehensive planning, and techniques to overcome problem situations and ethical dilemmas. The role of the planning commission and other individuals, as well as procedures for enacting zoning ordinances and guidelines for rezoning, are discussed in detail.
This course is designed for new and veteran planning commissioners and local elected and appointed officials. Continuing Legal Education and general continuing education credits for Registered Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Uniform Construction Code Officials, may be earned through this program.
Upon completion of all three sessions, participants will receive a certificate of completion recognizing their participation.
