Chester County – Review Planner IV

The Chester County Planning Commission seeks a senior level planner responsible for the review of subdivision and land development plans, land use ordinances, comprehensive plans and other municipal planning documents required for county review under Act 247, the PA Municipalities Planning Code.  A primary focus of the reviews is determining consistency with the county comprehensive plan, Landscapes3, as well as ensuring our municipal partners have the best professional planning and design guidance available as they consider proposed developments and planning policies within their communities. The Planning Commission operates in a hybrid work environment.

Requirements:

Familiarity with the PA Municipalities Planning Code, the ability to interpret subdivision and land development plans, and an understanding of the application of zoning and subdivision ordinance regulations are essential aspects of this position. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in land use law, particularly as it applies in Pennsylvania.  The candidate must be self-directed and comfortable interacting with municipal clients and agencies both within and outside of county government. The candidate should possess excellent verbal, writing, time management, and computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products and a working knowledge of GIS and ArcView software.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field with six years of applied planning experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree, Pennsylvania planning experience, and AICP certification are preferred.

Position Type: Full-Time / Exempt

Starting Salary: $68,489
