Planning Green Infrastructure with Stakeholder Input

Abstract
Green infrastructure (GI) is a decentralized approach for managing water, enhancing urban sustainability and promoting regional resilience. Early implementation has focused extensively on finite, yet accessible, publically owned land. To meaningfully alter ecosystem function, GI implementation needs to be widespread and significant in scale over longer time horizons. This task is complex since urban landscapes are composed of a patchwork of different land uses, managed by numerous kinds of public and private stakeholders, each with different goals, means, and perspectives. In this talk, Dr. Montalto will present some of his lab’s initial efforts to engage stakeholders in the planning, modeling, operation, and monitoring of urban GI facilities. The presentation will be used to foster a discussion about stakeholder engagement in green infrastructure.
